PX Windows

Rastergraf provides an X11R6 X Window System server based on source from Xi Graphics of Denver, Colorado. PX Windows is a full-featured server supporting all key X11 features, plus implementing powerful features like 3D rendering, video windowing, multi-headed displays, and touch screens.

The X server is executed by the system processor, aided where possible by graphics acceleration functions on the Rastergraf board. However, the overall performance of the PX Windows X server will be dependent on the processor speed as well as other available resources. PX Windows is based on Xi Version 4.1 source.

PX Windows is optimized for Rastergraf VFG-M, VCQ-M, and VFX-M graphics boards. The loadable DDX module version is distributed for Solaris.

PX Windows is currently available for LynxOS 3.1 (PowerPC), VxWorks Tornado 1.0 and 2.0 (PowerPC), Solaris 2.6 and 2.7 (SPARC), and Red Hat Linux 6.0 and 6.1 (x86). Specific graphics boards are supported under all operating systems.

Please contact Rastergraf for information on specific VMEbus and CompactPCI processors (SBCs) currently supported. PX Windows is distributed as executables only, without client-side libraries (xlib). Client-side libraries are provided by the distributors of LynxOS and most Unix-like operating systems. VxWorks users can acquire a commercial xlib. We highly recommend the xlib from Seaweed Systems.
